Templates

Templates tell the AI what kind of meeting this was (kickoff, negotiation, lecture, family meeting, court appearance — 37 types today). They change which structured fields get filled, which study tools appear, and which role views and pipeline artifacts apply. They do not replace User Notes.

Categories

Templates are grouped by category in the picker:

• General — the legacy default for any meeting.
• Business & Professional — sales, account management, internal sync, vendor demos.
• Project Management — kickoffs, status updates, sprint planning, retros, risk reviews, closeouts.
• Education & Learning — lectures, study notes, research, labs, mind maps, case studies.
• Legal — client intake, case strategy, depositions, hearings, mediations, contract negotiation.
• Personal & Family — family meetings, doctor visits, school conferences, finance, travel, home projects.

Pick a template

• Before capture — Home / upload / your default template in Account settings.
• On the meeting — template picker (search, favorites, last used).

Favorites and last-used are stored in this browser only (taste, not account data).

Switch after processing

If you already ran AI for template A and switch to template B:

1. Fast path — if B was processed before, SummitScribe swaps the saved snapshot in place (no extra processing time).
2. Slow path — if B was never processed, Regenerate runs synthesis only on existing sections (saves the expensive sectioning pass).

You should see a savings hint when the fast path is available.

Per-template memory

Each processed template keeps a snapshot (by_template). The visible summary always matches the current template. Old snapshots stay until you overwrite them with a new run.

Study and roles

• Study mode appears for study-oriented templates (flashcards, practice tests, mind maps). Pass the Test builds facts and flashcards per section on long lectures, then a practice quiz whose length scales with the recording.
• Role views list roles that apply to this template. A lecture template will not offer "account executive."
