iPhone widget, Siri, and Live Activity

The SummitScribe iPhone app has a few shortcuts that let you start or find a meeting without hunting through the app. They all work with the account you are signed in to.

Update to the latest TestFlight build to get all of them.

While you record: Live Activity and Dynamic Island

When a meeting is recording, your Lock Screen shows a SummitScribe card with the meeting name and how long you have been recording.

On iPhones with a Dynamic Island, a small SummitScribe microphone sits at the top of the screen while you use other apps. Touch and hold it to see more.

Tap the card or the Dynamic Island to jump straight back to that meeting. When you stop, it goes away after a few seconds.

You can turn this off in Settings → SummitScribe → Live Activities.

Ask Siri

Say any of these:

  • "Start a meeting in SummitScribe" — opens the app and starts recording a new meeting.
  • "Open my last meeting in SummitScribe" — opens your most recent meeting (or your meetings list if you have none).
  • "Show my meetings in SummitScribe" — opens your meetings list.

Other phrases also work, such as "Start recording in SummitScribe" or "Open my latest meeting in SummitScribe".

The same three actions are in the Shortcuts app (search for SummitScribe) and in Spotlight search, so you can add them to your own shortcuts or the Action button.

Home Screen widget

  1. Touch and hold an empty spot on your Home Screen until the apps jiggle.
  2. Tap Edit (or +) → Add Widget, then search for SummitScribe.
  3. Pick a size — small, medium, or large — and tap Add Widget.

The widget shows your most recent meeting (the medium and large sizes also show when it happened). Tap anywhere on it to start a new meeting and begin recording.

If you are signed out or have no meetings yet, it says "Tap to start a meeting."

Meeting names are hidden while your iPhone is locked, so people nearby cannot read them.

Long-press the app icon

Touch and hold the SummitScribe icon on your Home Screen to see three quick actions:

  • Start a Meeting
  • Open Last Meeting
  • Show Meetings

If something does not appear

iPhone can take a little while to notice new shortcuts after an update.

  • Open SummitScribe once, then try again.
  • Still missing? Delete the app, reinstall it from TestFlight, open it once, and restart your iPhone.
  • Siri may need a few minutes after the first install before it recognizes the phrases.

Signed out or already recording

  • If you are signed out, these open the sign-in screen. After you sign in, nothing starts on its own.
  • If a meeting is already recording, Start a Meeting will not start a second recording. Opening your last meeting or the meetings list moves you away from the live meeting page, but recording keeps going.

Requirements

  • The SummitScribe iPhone app (TestFlight) needs iOS 16 or later. Siri and the Shortcuts app work on iOS 16.
  • The Live Activity and the Home Screen widget need iOS 16.2 or later.
  • On iOS 17 and later the widget uses the standard iPhone widget background, so it looks right on your Home Screen and in StandBy. On iOS 16 it shows the same dark design with a slightly smaller inset.
