Step-by-step tutorial: objectives, prerequisites, steps, key concepts, commands or code, troubleshooting, best practices.
When to use this template
Use it when you are walking someone through a procedure they need to repeat on their own: a software tutorial, a tool demo, a training session, a coding walkthrough, a classroom lab orientation. The structure mirrors the order someone will need it in: prerequisites first, then steps, then what to do when something breaks. For a lecture where the goal is understanding rather than execution, see Lecture Notes.
Fields captured
- Learning objectives — what the learner should be able to do at the end.
- Prerequisites — what they need in place before starting.
- Steps — the procedure: step number, instruction, details, and warnings.
- Key concepts — ideas the steps rest on, captured here so the learner can revisit them.
- Commands / code — the actual commands, snippets, or queries to run.
- Troubleshooting — common errors and what they actually mean.
- Best practices — patterns the expert recommends.
- Resources — links, docs, and references.
- Key takeaways — the AI's prioritized summary points.
